The Past-Lessons versus Haunting

By Heather Mulhern

Below are some sound bites from Joan’s class this past Thursday regarding our relationship to and with the past.

The insight I gained from Thursday’s class is that as long as I quince in pain or react to a past event, I am attached to that experience or not in relation to it.  I am haunted by it, not empowered by it. The purpose of our experience here is to grow from our experiential lessons. The lessons lie in wait if the pain from the experience is too great. The lessons lie in wait until we can incorporate them. They haunt us when we do not learn from them. They haunt us until we learn from them.

I do not have to lose anything from my past to move forward.  I need only lose my attachment to the past so that I can incorporate the lessons waiting for me. I  liken the dropping of attachment to past to that of  a video game pawn. Dropping the attachment allows for the gobbling up of power points by the pawn. The more it gobbles, the more powerful it becomes as it nourishes itself from the lessons.  Attachment to the past slows the pawn down and results in drain, depletion, and being run by the programmed  game-constantly tethered to the reaction of an experience.

The beauty is that once we are aware of our attachment, it then becomes a choice. And once you make a choice to change your relationship with an event or experience the peeling and healing process begins.

Here are some of Joan’s soundbites during Thursday’s class:
Whatever happened in the past it is all good. It all happened for your greater good. With this pandemic, to be alive is precious. Just remember that.

The past is supposed to empower us, but wow, we let them haunt us. Just let it go.
When you accept the past and let it go,  you are free to do whatever. It doesn’t have to hurt you. You never lose anything from the past. You just cut the attachment so you can be free-that’s all.

It is a process of really letting go and really living in the present.

Once  you connect to the spirit, anything you need is there for you.

Thank you, Joan.

Keep movin’ and remember that moving  or walking backwards brings us into relationship with our past.
